I used to work in Southwark and my Friday ritual was to go to Borough Market and get an Ostrich burger and a raspberry, white and dark chocolate brownie. It’s a huge attraction to foodies, chefs, tourists and workers, like me, just looking for a bite to eat.
Borough Market celebrates 1000 years in Southwark so it seems fitting that, this year, they opened their market doors to weddings too. If you have London running through your veins and are a bit of a foodie then this really is the perfect place to celebrate your wedding. Even if you aren’t getting married Borough Market is well worth a visit if you are ever in London.
There are six event spaces available in Borough Market, but I will be focusing on 1 Cathedral Street which is perfect for intimate weddings. There is currently an application waiting to be approved for civil marriages and partnerships.
This grand Victorian building is a hidden gem, nestling next to Borough Market and overlooking Southwark Cathedral. No 1. Cathedral Street is bright and spacious, with traditional Victorian fireplaces and original features in each room
This venue is so fresh there aren’t any real weddings yet but I’ll be sure to keep you updated. Here is an engagement shoot to give you a taster for the areas and endless photo opportunities.
